It is funny how we come across different things in life. There are the things that are in our face all the time, as of late - politics, but then there are things that make us just stop.
As a society, I feel that it is these ’stop’ moments that we are missing. There is to much noise all the time and we are so attuned to it that when the noise is gone, we are frightened. I myself will admit that I am a victim of the noise. I can’t go to bed at night without the TV on. I am not watching anything, but it is that need for the noise presence in the room that I need to, of all things, relax.
So, in the fight against noise I applaud those who are able to create so much with so little that it actually breaks the bonds of noise and just makes us stop. Below is a video I came across of one such warrior against noise. A person who was able to create something to amazing that is actually makes people stop, sit and only be there.
Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator…. You’ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?
In a modern recreation of one of the greatest political confrontations, Keith Olbermann - host of Countdown on MSNBC, threw it down like I have never seen before.
In this hair raising Special Comment, Keith calls John McCain and his endless spewing of hate for what it really is. A dangerous loaded gun. Look John, is winning an election really worth the possible national tragedy you may cause? Will you suspend your campaign for that one, huh?
Just providing more fuel for the flames of stupidity, the McCain / Palin ticket continues to prove that they think that they can continue to lie and get away with it.
In a great article from Newsweek about the recent statements from Palin that she was the sole hero in stopping the infamous ‘Bridge to Knowhere‘ is being proven a flat out lie across the Internet.
While it’s technically true that Palin abandoned plans to build a $400 million bridge from Ketchikan to an island with 50 residents *and an airport*, it’s completely misleading to portray Palin as a “crusader for the thrifty use of tax dollars” and claim, as the Alaska governor did in her convention speech last week, that she “told the Congress ‘thanks but no thanks’ for that Bridge to Nowhere.” Ultimately, Palin’s decision to pull the plug on the project had nothing to do with principle. In fact, she supported the remote project–with some reservations–while running for governor in 2006, telling her potential constituents that she would “not allow the spinmeisters to turn this project or any other into something that’s so negative.” It was only when people like John McCain succeeding in convincing Congress that the project was a waste of money–and Congress subsequently killed its funding–that Palin decided to quit.
The Internet is the greatest fact check machine on the planet and the Obama team knows how to use it. On a daily basis I am amazed at the speed in which information wraps the planet. No lie will go unrevealed. McCain’s weapons of choice appear to be lies while Obama chooses to use the truth.
But the real challenge are those who refuse to listen to reason. Those who will only listen to the commercials and the endless lies and when confronted with the truth are in such disbelief that they cannot accept the truth. How do we reach these people? How?
