great god almighty … we are free at last!

I forgot what it felt like to be proud of my nation again. The dread of the past 8 years is finally lifted from my shoulders. The relief that the American people are all not as ignorant or hate filled as the McCain campaign or the Republican party thought we were.
I do want to say that I have an amazing level of disrespect for the Dane County Republican Party. Your amazing campaign of lies and pure hate have reached a new low that I thought that we could not have passed from 2004. In the end, after all you have done, can you really look yourself in the mirror and say that you are still a decent human being? I know I couldn’t.
President Obama and Vice-President Biden, congratulations! But now the task is upon you to live up to the dream that you have put before us. It is up to you to deliver on that promise that has caused millions of Americans and myself to become a part of this campaign. It is up to you to deliver on that future that I promised to my daughter.
A mandate has been bestowed on you this evening, we will be there to support you, please do not lead us astray.

Well here we are. Waiting line at my local voting place blogging from my iPhone.
I have to say, for the small town of Windsor, WI, they have done a good job of being organized.
Had a small moment of panic just now. In line they have poll workers verifying voters before we get in. The person who validated my registration is a known Republican and is the communications manager for a state representative I believe. Anyway, where was I going? Oh yeah, verification. She couldn’t find my name? 15 seconds of pure campaign fraud! She is killing my VOTE! I was screaming in my head.
But then there I was. No issues. Is this the by-product of watching to much CNN? Am I under the influence of Rachel Madow? Maybe.
Oh well, happy voting. Although I REALLY hope you vote for Barack, please vote. Every vote counts.

I am sure any one of you reading this blog are pretty aware of the many attacks by John McCain on Barack Obama creating guilt by simple association. Just another chapter out of the GOP Play Book, ‘if we are guilty of something, blame the other guy first to lead away suspicion.’
In politics you have to be wrapped in plastic to not have a shady associations. I am not denying that Obama may be associations with Ayers and Khalidi, but these associations have been proven to be superficial at best. There is no proof linking Obama to being a terrorist or a PLO supporter. My god, even Geraldo Rivera even claimed to be friends with Yasser Arafat. Yasser freaking Arafat! And is Geraldo heading up a terrorist organization seeking the destruction of Israel? Ah, no. My god, what have we come to when Geraldo is the voice of sanity calling out the audacity of McCain’s utterly ridiculous attacks on Obama.
But what if you still want to play the game? Ok, we can do that. What I want to know is how McCain has the stones to even bring up the question about Khalidi? When in fact, McCain is a Khalidi supporter. The dirt on Obama is that he toasted Khalidi at a dinner. Wow, that is pretty hard stuff there. What’s McCain’s association? Well, about to the tune of $500,000. Yeah, cold cash, US dollars. Don’t know about you, but I call cold hard cash showing WAY more support of a person and his politics versus a single toast at a dinner function, don’t you? Put your money where your mouth is John, and maybe you can get your head out of your ass too.
Here is a little of that ’straight talk express’ for you.
John McCain served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI) during the 1990s which provided grants worth $500,000 to the Center for Palestine Research and Studies for the purpose of polling the views of the Palestinian people. The Center was co-founded by Khalidi.[22][23][24] A copy of the IRS filing for the IRI was published online showing the grant and IRI members.[25]
Then what about some other sketchy financial support in McCain’s past? Anyone remember G. Gordon Liddy? If that doesn’t ring a bell, how about Watergate? The Nixon scandal that brought down the White House? Yes, Mr. Liddy, along with E. Howard Hunt, masterminded the first break-in of the Democratic National Committee headquarters in the Watergate building in 1972. The cover-up of the Watergate scandal, that followed, led to Nixon’s resignation in 1974.
Liddy served four and a half years in prison for his role in the burglary. Yes, prison. He was convicted and imprisoned for one of the greatest political crimes of our time and the word ‘gate’ has become synonymous with scandal. Even most recent, Palin’s issue with Trooper-Gate.
So, what does this have to do with McCain?
In 1998 Liddy hosted a fundraiser at his house for John McCain’s re-election campaign at which guests could have their pictures taken with McCain and Liddy.[8] Over the years, Liddy, who has referred to McCain as “an old friend,” has made at least four contributions totaling $5,000 to the senator’s campaigns — including $1,000 in 2008. When David Letterman asked McCain about his relationship with Liddy, McCain said, “I know Gordon Liddy. He paid his debt. He went to prison and paid his debt, as people do. I’m not in any way embarrassed to know Gordon Liddy.”[9][10]
I am sorry, but in my eyes, Liddy is pure political evil. A leading mastermind of one of the greatest political scandals of our time and John McCain saw it as acceptable to not only attend this fund raiser, but also accepted donations to have his picture taken with Liddy. Really? And this is acceptable? If I were in office I wouldn’t take a red cent from Liddy. Just more proof where John’s priorities are.
Truth of the matter is that guilt by association is crap, pure and total crap. We know it and they know it. But it is the blinder wearing, backwards, see nothing supporter that will eat this shit up lock, stock and barrel. I thought the day I agreed with Geraldo Rivera would be a cold day in hell, but I guess even he has a real sense of decency after all.
Look here Mr. McCain. I, and many Americans like myself, have lost much of the great respect we once held for you. We looked to you as a real leader in a world that was often a wash of individualists and corruption. But the campaign you have conducted in order to reach the office of the President is shameful at best and if you are willing to stoop to such a low just to get the office, what will you actually do when you get there? I am afraid of that reality and hope to god that it never happens.
That is my $0.02, do with it what you will.
